cards face-up. The dealer also gets two cards, one face-up and one face-down.
2. Decide to ‘Hit’ or ‘Stand’
Assess the value of your hand and compare it to the dealer’s to get as close as possible
to 21 without going over. You can make decisions based on instinct or by referring to a
blackjack strategy guide.
3. Choosing to ‘Hit’
Ask the dealer for an additional card. Do this when you believe the next card won’t cause
you to go over 21, or you’re willing to take the risk, considering the dealer’s potential
hand.
4. Choosing to ‘Stand’
Opt not to take another card and pass the play to the next player. This is often done
when your hand value is high (e.g., 17 or more) and you’re uncertain if the dealer’s hand
will beat yours.
5. Evaluating Your Hand
After your decision, you’ll have a final hand value. If your hand totals 21 or less, you’re
still in the game.
6. Dealer Reveals Their Cards
Once all players have made their choices, the dealer reveals their hidden card.
7. Determine the Winner
The player whose hand is closest to 21 without going over wins. If your hand is closer to
21 than the dealer’s, you win. The dealer will distribute your winnings based on the type
of bet you made
